Johanna Lecklin is currently studying for a PhD at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and in Helsinki University. She graduated with an MFA from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, with an MA in art history from Helsinki University and studied in London at the Slade School of Fine Art, in UCL. Lecklin works with film, video and photography. She has had several solo shows in Finland and taken part in many international group shows and festivals such as ANTI Contemporary Art Festival in Kuopio in Finland 2008, the Biennale of Young Artists in Tallinn 2007 and Limerick Biennale in Ireland 2006.
Her works have been shown in film and video festivals like Milano Film Festival and Strasbourg International Film Festival in 2008, Rencontres Internationales in Paris and Raindance Film Festival in London 2006, Pépinières européennes Festival in Biarritz and in Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- & videofest in Kassel 2005. She won the Year Prize of the Artists' Association of Finland 2001.
