Hailed as The 'Queen-bee of Irish Noise', Vicky Langan is the curator of Black Sun, a regular weirdo/outer limits music night which takes place in Cork,
through which she has brought many renowned makers of strange sounds from around the world to play for the first time in this country. She has performed live improvised scores for the Cork Super-8 Film Festival and Meridian Theatre Company, creates experimental films with Cork filmmaker and critic, Maximilian Le Cain, collaborates in a 'live art' context with visual artist, Sandra Ann Minchin and sings with a group of singers dedicated to the 1700's American tradition of Shape Note Singing. Vicky is presently on a year-long residency with the Cork Artists Collective with collaborator, 'Noise/Music A History' author, Paul Hegarty, and was recently profiled on contemporary music programme, Nova on RTE Lyric fm. Wölflinge, her solo project, often explores the darker side of intimacy, using flesh, fluid and self built instruments. She has performed at festivals such as Arttrail, Soundeye, the Avant, Cork Super-8 film festival, Beamish Folk Festival, Blood and Bandage, Bodies/Music Conference UCC, (Cork), Earwig Arts Festival and Tweak/Soundings (Limerick). |
